Google Play keywords: arcade games, August 2026

Arcade returns forty-six open terms out of thirty-one thousand keywords, and thirty-four of them score under 30 on Rankgrip. Sixteen appear in no other report this month — the second most distinct issue in the August set, after simulation.

The number worth stopping on is a different one.

One app is number one for sixteen of the forty-six

Aippy: créer un jeu currently holds the top slot for sixteen of these keywords — better than a third of the report. Sekai : Créer · Remix · Jouer holds three more and 1000 Offline Games in 1 another three.

None of the three is an arcade game. Aippy and Sekai generate games; the third is a compilation. Between them they hold the top slot for twenty-two of the forty-six open arcade terms — and they got there without shipping an arcade game at all.

The reading for a studio is practical. A slot held by a tool is a slot held by something with no reason to defend it. Those apps rank on generic vocabulary they happen to contain, not on relevance any player would recognise — so a real arcade game carrying the phrase in its listing has a better claim than the numbers alone suggest.

The reachable terms

Below the tool cluster the arcade rows look like arcade. chicken roll game has the lowest grip in the report at 7, with a thirteen-month-old leader. boom chip clash sits at 14 with a nine-month-old app on it. game chicken road is at 16 and spinner merge master at 34 with real demand of 70.

gold merge earn money at 25 also appears in the simulation report. Merge mechanics list across both categories, so the term does too.

The wall, and one hole in it

block blast at Rankgrip 68 and place blocks at 47 are both held by Block Blast!, an app past a billion installs. single player sits at 67 and offline play at 59.

place blocks is the anomaly again, the same one the puzzle report found: a billion-install app at number one, seven of the ten held by big developers, and the score still comes in at 47 — because not one app carries the phrase in its title. None of that makes it easy. It does make it a different fight from block blast at 68, where the title match is the thing in your way.

The phrases are short here

Arcade leans shorter than the other categories this month. Its terms are mostly two and three words, where simulation runs to four and five. Arcade play is easier to name than it is to describe, so people search for the object rather than the situation: a chicken, a spinner, a chip.

Short phrases are usually the ones already gone, so a short one still open is worth more attention than its Rankgrip alone implies. boom chip clash at 14: three words, a nine-month-old leader, and nothing sitting between it and whoever wants it.

What this issue shares

Twenty-three of these rows also appear in the casual report and seventeen in puzzle. Arcade games are routinely listed under both, so their keywords are. The measurement is the same in each; only the surrounding category differs.

The open terms
